FAQs
- All students should receive an email with their library barcode number at the beginning of their first semester at Prescott College. You will need this number to sign in to your YLN library account and to access research articles in the library databases. Online students will not receive a physical library card. On campus students will see their library barcode number printed on their student IDs. Your student ID card will work as a library card at any library in Yavapai County, AZ while you are currently enrolled in school.
- If you don’t have your library barcode number, email us at [email protected] or call us at 928-350-1300 and we will provide that for you.
- Step 1: You need your library ID # and pin # (only needed for the YLN catalog). Email us if you need help figuring out your number and/or pin. Make sure you’re logged into your Prescott College Google Suite (Gmail etc.).
- Step 2: For books and most eBooks, go straight to the YLN catalog to search for what we have available in the network. You need your library ID # and pin # . You can place books on hold and have them pulled and/or sent here to Prescott College library for you to pick up, you’ll get an automatic notification via email. If you want them mailed to you, select PCM (Prescott College Mail).
- Step 3: For articles, start with checking Google Scholar and make sure you’re logged into your Prescott College Google — if we have access to the article, it should be in PDF format in a link to the right on the screen. You can choose to install the EBSCOhost Passport Chrome extension to get direct links to the articles we have available.
- Step 4: Search our Library Search Plus site for articles, through which you can access EBSCO materials. You will need your library barcode number to sign in, but you don’t need a password or pin, unless you want to create a MyEBSCO account to save articles).
- Step 5: Use our LibGuides for topic specific research
- Step 6: Set up an Interlibrary Loan Account (ILL) using your library ID # and create a new password at ILL create account or login to your account at ILL login and request the books and articles we don’t have access to. We can’t mail ILL books to you, so you can’t request physical books if you are not in Prescott, but you may request up to two chapters in PDF format. I will email you the ILL article in PDF if/when I receive it, or let you know once your ILL book has arrived for you to pick up.
- While school is in session, the library is open Monday – Thursday 8am-8pm, Friday 8am-5pm, Saturday 10am-4pm, and Sunday 12pm (noon)-6pm.
- During the summer and winter breaks, the library is open Monday-Thursday 9am-4pm and closed Friday-Sunday.
- The library is closed for all major federal holidays and when the college is closed.
To renew a loaned item, log in to your library account here and select which items you would like to renew.
- Yes! You can view all of our online resources at library.prescott.edu.
- When you are off-campus, you will need your library barcode number to access materials. If you don’t have your library barcode number, email us at [email protected] or call us at 928-350-1300 and we will provide that for you.
All of our academic databases can be found here.
- Students, faculty, and staff can borrow up to 50 items at a time.
- On campus undergraduates can borrow books for 3 weeks.
- Off-campus undergraduates can borrow books for 4 weeks. We mail books to off-campus students at no cost to you, you will only be responsible for return postage. To request a book be delivered by mail, select “Prescott College Mail Delivery” as your pickup location when placing a hold.
- Masters students can borrow books for 5 weeks.
- PhD students can borrow books for 6 weeks.
Login in to your library account here then find the item you would like to request and place a hold. When the item is returned, the item will be sent to us for you to be picked up. You will receive an item when it is ready for you. Note: this may take up to three weeks to become available.

- Yes! To print, simply save your file as a PDF and attach to an email addressed to [email protected]. Then scan your student ID on a copier in the library to print your files.
- Note: The first time you print you will need to sign in to the printer using your Prescott College Login.
